Android App of the Day: Market Enabler

For the lucky ones that live in Paid Android Markets, you have access to way more apps... both free and paid.  For us here in the Philippines, we have some free market apps, and no paid ones.  Although inserting a foreign SIM card and accessing the Marketplace via WiFi works, it's a bit cumbersome to keep switching SIMs.

Market Enabler does a great job of 'faking' ones location and giving access to the Marketplace of the region/country it's faking.  Albeit you still can't buy paid apps without a credit card issued from an approved country (BOO!!!!) you do get more free apps, and even some Google app updates (Like the new Streetview on Maps and Translate)

Give it a try.  Worked for me! :)

  1. as alternatives, i'm using Market Access

i got appbrain as well, but i haven't tried purchasing any app yet. read from a review that appbrain is only an interface, and will source the apps from google's Market as well, so i think local credit cards are still no go for this.

  2. Market ENabler doesn't work for me. :/ It just doesn't seem to do anything for me. But through those, could you really have access to paid apps?

  3. @Roberto, thanks for that! Cool mod for Market Enabler!

@Risa, unfortunately, you will still need a credit card issued from an approved country to buy paid apps :( but certain free apps that are not visible in the Phil market (and other markets) as well as certain Google app updates will now be available for download or update! :)
